I first visited London in 2019 when I studied abroad there. I fell in love with the city and all that it has to offer. I genuinely think it's the best big city in the world, and I have dreamed of doing a photoshoot there ever since.
As a photographer based in northern Utah, this particular couples session was such an exciting creative challenge for me because we shot in so many locations with very different lighting situations. We started out the day shooting outdoors in Canary Wharf next to towering skyscrapers and a nearby park. After that, we made our way down the escalators in the Canary Wharf Underground Station where we then shot some photos on the Tube on our way to Baker Street Station. Then, we hopped in an Uber to Richmond Park, which is so massive it gives Central Park a run for its money. We shot there until sunset, where the gorgeous golden August sunlight peeked through the trees.
Swapping wide-open nature and natural light for city streets, crowds, and moody artificial underground lighting was out of my comfort zone, but I fell in love with the process. I am so excited about how these turned out and I hope to be able to do more urban couples photoshoots in the future.
